Explains what data the Yaqin app and the yaqin.toostack.com website process, where, and why.
Last updated: · Version 1.0
This is a translation provided for convenience. In case of any discrepancy, the Turkish version prevails.
In short
- Yaqin has no account, sign-up or login.
- Your dhikr history, favorites, custom dhikrs, settings and intention are stored only on your phone and watch; they are never sent to our servers.
- We use no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking tools, and we do not access your advertising ID.
- Your location is used on your device to calculate the qibla and prayer times. It is sent to OpenStreetMap services only when you use “Nearby mosques”, so the search can be performed.
1. Scope and data controller
This policy covers the Yaqin iOS and Android phone apps, the Apple Watch app, the upcoming Wear OS app and the yaqin.toostack.com website.
Data controller: TooStack, Maslak, Sarıyer, Istanbul, Türkiye. Contact: help@toostack.com
For users in Türkiye, the KVKK Notice also applies.
2. Data processed only on your device
The following data is stored on your phone (and paired watch) so the app can work. TooStack has no access to it.
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Dhikr sessions, counts, dates | Counter, daily progress and history |
| Favorites and dhikrs you create | Quick start and personalization |
| Intention | Dhikr suggestions for your intention. Treated as a sensitive preference; never sent to any server. |
| Settings (language, atmosphere, haptic level, reminders) | Running the app the way you prefer |
| Your selected city | Calculating prayer times offline |
| A random identifier generated on the device | Linking records within the device. It does not identify you and is never sent to us. |
3. Location
Location access is optional and only requested while the app is in use. If you decline, you can pick a city for prayer times.
Your location is used on your device to calculate the qibla, prayer times and prayer reminders; it is not stored or sent to us.
When you open “Nearby mosques”, your coordinates are sent directly from your device to the OpenStreetMap services listed in section 4 to find mosques around you.
4. Third-party services
Only when you use nearby mosques or the map screen, your device connects to the services below. These requests include your coordinates, your IP address and standard connection information (such as an app identifier):
- Nominatim (OpenStreetMap Foundation) — nominatim.openstreetmap.org
- Public Overpass API servers — overpass-api.de, lz4.overpass-api.de, overpass.private.coffee, overpass.kumi.systems, maps.mail.ru
- Map tiles — OpenStreetMap France (tile.openstreetmap.fr)
These services are run by non-profit organizations and the community and process data under their own privacy policies (e.g. osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy). The content of these requests does not reach us.
When you ask for directions, the location is handed to the maps app you choose (Apple Maps, Google Maps, etc.), which is subject to its own policy.
When you download the app from the App Store or Google Play, those stores process data under their own policies.
5. Watch sync
Sync between Apple Watch and iPhone happens directly through Apple's device-to-device connection (WatchConnectivity). When the Wear OS app is released, it will use Google's device-to-device connection (Data Layer). Your data does not pass through our servers.
6. Notifications
Prayer reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. We use no push server and collect no notification tokens. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.
7. Export and import
A file created with “Export data” is saved only where you choose or shared only with the app you choose. Where you keep it and whom you share it with is up to you.
8. Website and support
yaqin.toostack.com uses no cookies, local storage or tracking tools. Details: Cookie Policy.
The site is hosted on Vercel Inc. (USA) infrastructure. For security and operations, Vercel keeps technical logs such as IP address, browser information and request time for a short period.
When you write to help@toostack.com, we use your email address and anything you share only to answer your request.
9. Retention and deletion
Data on your device stays there until you delete it. You can delete everything with Settings › Data & privacy › Delete all data on this device, or by uninstalling the app. Details: Data & Account Deletion.
Support correspondence is kept for at most 2 years after your request is resolved. Write to us if you'd like it deleted sooner.
10. Children
Yaqin is intended for a general audience and asks no one for personal data. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us data, write to help@toostack.com and we will delete it.
11. Security
App data is stored in the area the operating system isolates from other apps. The security of your data largely depends on the security of your device; we recommend using a screen lock.
12. Your rights
Depending on where you live, laws such as KVKK or the GDPR give you the right to access, correct and delete your data, to object to processing and to lodge a complaint. Since we do not hold your app data, you can exercise these rights over it directly on your device. For requests about support correspondence, write to help@toostack.com.
13. Account and backup in the future
Future versions may offer an optional account and cloud backup. Before that feature launches, this policy will be updated, the change will be announced in the app, and the feature will not run unless you explicitly turn it on. Its terms are in the Membership Agreement.
14. Changes and contact
When we update this policy, we change the date and version at the top of the page. We also announce significant changes in the app.
